The word tajweed is derived from the Arabic word Jawad, which meaning "opposite of bad" or "weak." Tajweed is the art of reciting the Qur'an's letters in the finest possible fashion, giving each letter its due respect and pronouncing each letter from the correct exit.
Jawad al-Qur'an is the finest way to recite the Qur'an, and al-Majd is one of the best things.
The intonation is light and easy to pick up. Some people put forth more effort and go beyond when reciting, which isn't required. Others recite the Qur'an in a more relaxed manner, yet not to the point of becoming lethargic. Tajweed, like our Islam, is a religion.
Tajweed is the intermediate road, and it should be approached with caution.
Intonation is learned by practise, regardless of one's upbringing or language. So, when individuals believe they can't do it, they are mistaken.
